Danakil Depression

I am both stingy, have a hard time digesting the YOLO bullshit and dread organized tours. And all these things did not matter, when it came to visiting the Danakil Depression in remote part of Ethiopia (since it was the only way to visit it without having to avoid military patrols and locals alike). In four days we could have a glimps at the remote geological past (when the Earth’s crust was still soft enough to incidentaly break it and fall into a boiling mix of minerals) and at a lava lake boiling in the crater of Era Are volcano.

Locations: Danakil Depression, Dallol Lake, Era Ale volcano
Year: 2013
